It’s no secret that Hong Kong Island’s beaches are not exactly the cleanest on the planet. Repulse Bay is beautiful at dusk, while observed from one of the beach bars but during summer weekends, it is packed full of people.

Big Wave Bay or Shek O are bigger cleaner beaches, but if you really want to relax and escape the city, it is worth driving out to the New Territories, where you will find a dramatically more remote and beautiful coastline.
