Ferries provide the key way of getting to the outlying islands of Hong Kong, such as Lantau, Cheung Chau and Lamma. Ferries to these islands run from Central pier. For a scenic route across the harbour, you can also hop on the famous Star Ferry, which runs between Central pier and Tsim Sha Tsui. There is also a regular ferry that runs between Hong Kong and Macau every fifteen minutes, 24-hours a day. While there is no need to book ferries to the outlying islands, when you are going to Macau it is essential to book your return journey if you’re planning on coming back late to guarantee yourself a seat back.
